How to make biscuits

In our Art lessons, on mondays,  we have been designing and making our own biscuits.
Firstly, we got the ingredients. The ingredients were butter , flower and sugar. Then we poured  butter in the weighing scale. The butter in the scales had to be 200 g. After that we poured  the butter in the bowl. Then we put some flour in the scale it had to be to 200g. We put the flour in the bowl. Then we poured the sugar in then we had to mix it. After that we put it together into a big dough ball and then we flattened it with a rolling pin. Also we used shape cutters to make our biscuits into a Christmas shapes, such as, Christmas trees and bells. Finally we put the biscuits in the oven. Once they were cooked we waited for them to cool down and took them home to eat.

Mersey Vale vs St. Winifred's - Wednesday 13th November

On Wednesday 13th November, Mersey Vale's football team prepared to play St.WInifreds in a friendly match. Mersey Vale got off to a great start and won many corners in the first few minutes. Even though Mersey Vale didn't have Amaar, one of their best players, they still had a very good side. After about 8 minutes, Mersey Vale broke the ice! It was a St.Winifreds goal kick and the goalkeeper kicked it as far as Arran Pettifer (our centred midfielder) who struck the ball into the bottom right hand corner from the half way line. It was a glorious goal, but the lead didn't last for long...

St.Winifreds captain, Matthew, went on a run and passed the ball to their striker, who shot and Aquib (the Mersey Vale goalkeeper/captain) He made a terrific save only to find that Matthew was able to shoot into the top left hand corner just as the half time whistle blew.

In the second half, once again, MerseyVale had all the possession but never broke through. Both teams made substitutions which didn't change anything. In the finale seconds MVPS broke through...Arran had the ball, he passed it to Azeem who did a one two with Arran (two ver skilled  players) and......GOAL!!! Azeem, with the winner right on the full time whistle!

A great victory for Mersey Vale.

Year 5 School Council News - November 2013

Hello we are the new elected school council and we want to make Mersey Vale a better place.

First we had to make the book fair a little more fun, so along with the book fair we had a toy fair running at the same time (we raised £398.80).  With the money we raised through non-uniform and our toy sale we gave half to the Philippines because they had a horrible typhoon and half to children in need.

We have also organised lockers for Y5 and Y6. We voted on colours and the colours Y5  have chosen are blue and red. We can't wait to have a tidier and more organised place to put all our things.
